Classics are classics for a reason. Scrabble, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, and card games like Spades or Euchre are all solid options for game night. These are fun games and most people will already know how to play, so you can skip that awkward “read the rules” moment… but after decades of these games, sometimes they just don’t inspire that much excitement any more.
We’re here to share four fun games to keep things fresh for game night:
Codenames: This is definitely a thinkers game. One Spymaster (aka clue giver) from each team tries to get teammates to guess their code words while avoiding opponents code words and an assassin word.
Throw Throw Burrito: Perfect for a raucous party and a room with limited breakables, this fun game is utter nonsense. This is a game of luck and chaos, but you’ll be shrieking and laughing within minutes of setup.
Monopoly Deal: Okay I know we said move over Monopoly, but this is a totally new version of the classic that is much faster and trades in pieces and fake money for cards. Games are a race to collect three complete property sets and can usually be completed in about 15 minutes. This game is perfect for small groups. In fact, Savorly co-founders David & Ethan love to play this one together!
5 Second Rule [Uncensored]: For an adults-only group that doesn’t mind getting.. erhm, personal. Same as the classic version, you have 5 seconds to name three things but in this version prompts will gear you down the risque path.
No matter what you play, game night is a great time and a test of friendship. Don’t forget to stock up on great party snacks and drinks to diffuse the tension in case someone’s competitive side is unleashed.
